HOW TO STAY HEALTHY!
By Margaret Roberts

The Super Foods:
Apples, dates, grapes, lemons, mangoes, melon, pineapple, tomatoes, kale, almonds, chestnuts, garlic, carrots, spinach, asparagus, beetroot, celery, onion, cabbage, oats, fenugreek, barley and green barley, green wheat, guava, strawberries, Bulgarian yoghurt. Good B vitamin supplement, zinc, vitamin B6 and vitamin C essential.

The Whole Body Tonic:
The most important of all to be taken 2 or 3 or 4 times a week. Kelp, alfalfa (Lucerne), cayenne, pennywort (Centella asiatica), ginger, garlic, vitamin C, B, D and E particularly, grapefruit (contains vitamin P), cinnamon, green tea.

Standard brew tea:
A quarter cup fresh leaves and flowers, pour over this 1 cup boiling water, stand 5 minutes, strain, sweeten with honey if liked, add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice if liked.

THERAPEUTIC HERBS

Dandelion:
High in Vitamin A, potassium. Liver cleanser. Chlorophyll stimulates all glands. Eat fresh leaves in salad daily.

Echinacea: One of the best immune system builders. Tincture from chemist. Tea from leaves and flowers 1 cup daily – but divide it up into quarter cup 4 times a day.

Thyme: Ordinary Thymus vulgaris or lemon thyme, fresh on food and tea – has antiseptic qualities.

Sage (Salvia officinalis): Excellent action on throat, brain and kidneys.

Elder (Sambucus nigra): Elder flowers in tea to build resistance – deeply cleansing and with peppermint break the Herpes Simplex virus. Contains Vitamin A and C. Dry flowers for winter use.

Peppermint (Mentha piperita nigra): Stimulating, digestive, an effective tonic for the whole system. Brain clarity and memory retention.

Rosemary (Rosemarinus officinalis): Tea used for those who "fail to thrive" restorative, energising, stimulating, a warming herb, improves concentration.

Tea Tree: Antiviral – use in oil form, antiseptic, antibacterial, make into a cream: a quarter cup good aqueous cream to 7 – 10 drops tea tree oil, mix well. Apply to aching joints, etc.

St John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum): Tablet form. Pain reliever, antiviral, contains hypericin – so powerful it is being used to treat aids.

Eucalyptus: Antiseptic, use as oil for fresh leaves in bath. Opens sinuses, clears bacteria, inhale the fumes in hot water.

Celery and Parsley: Eat both fresh daily – 1 tablespoon chopped. The high chlorophyll and the antiseptic, tonic properties they contain and the detoxifying action makes these 2 herbs essential for immune system boosting.

Garlic: as much as you can bear! Eat with parsley. Nature’s own antibiotic. Nature’s own immune system booster.

Yarrow (Achillea millefolium): Combines well with the other herb teas – remedy for colds = yarrow, peppermint, ginger, elder flower. Mix equal quantities, take 1 tablespoon, pour over this 2 cups boiling water, allow to stand for 6 – 8 minutes, strain, take a quarter cup at intervals throughout the day.

All the Mints: Which relax tense muscles and enable the blood vessels to take up blood building nutrients.

Cayenne Pepper: A quarter teaspoon in warm milk or water taken daily, or sprinkle on food, or use in cooking – the pure heat builds resistance.

Paprika and Green Peppers: Eat fresh, or use dried, ground paprika on food - both have high Vitamin C and beta carotenes.

Wheat Grass, Barley Grass and Oat Straw: All build up bone, blood and resistance to infection, all are energisers and are high in minerals and vitamins. Sprinkle fresh onto food, or take in juices and teas.

Horseradish: Grated root is a stimulant and builds resistance and clears infections.

Ginger: Grated or sliced root is a superb resistance builder. Make into a tea or used grated in food. Preserve in honey for summer use.

Winter Savory: Standard brew often mixed with fresh Lucerne. Used by doctors in France to build resistance to ‘flu and pneumonia. Take 6 weeks daily before the onset of winter.

Pennywort (Centella asiatica): A tonic herb, an excellent circulatory herb and tones and nourishes skin, circulation and brain. Possibly the 21st century’s most necessary herb. Eat 1 leaf daily or tea of 3 leaves in 1 cup boiling water 2 or 3 times a week.

Anise: Clears infections, coughs, antiseptic, chew seeds, or tea of seeds or fresh plant.

Chamomile: Anti-allergenic, anti-inflammatory, relaxant, antispasmodic. Tea.

BIOCHEMIC TISSUE SALTS

For ‘flu: Ferrum phos., Natu. Sulph., Kali mur. Dissolve 4 tablets of each in half a glass of hot water. Sip slowly. Do this every hour for 6 – 8 hours.

Calcium sulphate – blood purifier – builds tissues – prevents colds and sore throats.

If you take aspirin – counter effect is to take calcium sulphate – it clears the coal tar.
